Fascinated by Ice

When we planned the front fountains, we never imagined they might one day become beautiful ice sculptures! We have been fascinated by them, entertained every morning following a deep freeze ... which is almost every night here.

The birds don't seem to mind the cold. Dozens gather in the nearby Ash tree, and fly from it to the fountain and back. (The Black Hills are in the background.)

Birds sit on top of the top metal & stone fountain, with water gurgling from its top while ice clings to its side. Three birds are mid-flight, about to join their friends. Mountains are seen in the distance.
Several birds enjoy the top fountain, despite the ice still clinging to its structure.
