Crane Petroglyph Heritage Site

Located 2.8 miles east of  junction of I-17 and SR 179 (Sedona exit)

Largest known petroglyph site in the Verde Valley, this art was created by the ancient Sinagua. An easy walking trail along Wet Beaver Creek leads to the rock panel, where a docent stands ready to share what we know of its meanings.

Found within a rolling desert landscape, about 1.5 million gallons of water flow from this sinkhole - over 300 feet wide - into the nearby Wet Beaver Creek, providing a secure source of water for ancient Sinaguan farms.
