Cottonwood is known for Old Town charm, Arizona wine country, and beautiful Verde Valley scenery—but some of its best experiences are the ones many visitors overlook. If you enjoy discovering local favorites, peaceful places, and authentic small-town moments, Cottonwood is full of hidden gems waiting to be explored.

When you stay at Origins Bed & Breakfast, you’re perfectly located to experience both the popular highlights and the quieter treasures locals love most.

1. Verde Village Nature Preserve

Just minutes away, this peaceful preserve along the Verde River offers shaded walking paths, birdwatching, and a calm natural setting many visitors never realize exists. It’s ideal for a morning walk or quiet afternoon reset.

2. Local Art & Boutique Shops

Beyond the tasting rooms, Cottonwood has small shops filled with handmade goods, art, antiques, and one-of-a-kind finds. Spend time wandering—you never know what treasure you’ll discover. Some of our favorites include:

3. Local History

When Cottonwood became a City in 1960, the Founders incorporated other local settlements, including Smelter City and Clemenceau. Today, local history is on display at the Clemenceau Heritage Museum

4. Scenic Back Roads Through Wine Country

Many visitors head straight to tasting rooms, but the drive through Page Springs and the surrounding countryside is an attraction itself. Rolling views, vineyards, and wide-open skies make for a beautiful Arizona afternoon.

5. Quiet Sunset Spots

Cottonwood sunsets are underrated. Ask a local—or ask us at Origins—for the best spots to watch the sky turn gold, pink, and purple over the Verde Valley.

6. Tuzigoot Views Beyond the Monument

Many guests visit Tuzigoot National Monument, a ancient village built by the Sinagua people around 1000 years ago, but fewer stay to appreciate the incredible panoramic views of the Verde Valley and nearby Tavasci Marsh as the sun sets.

7. Hidden Local Eateries

Some of the best meals in Cottonwood come from smaller local spots that don’t always appear on travel lists. We’re always happy to share our favorite places with guests. You can see our list at Explore.
